Help us feed and provide for children so they can have a better life.
Much of the practical ministry of World Missionary Evangelism is directed to feeding the hungry,
particularly hungry children. Money that sponsors give to support orphaned or homeless
children goes to providing food, clothing, housing and an education, both in the knowledge of
the Lord and standard academic subjects.
Experience has taught us that children can’t learn for long on an empty stomach. Hungry
children faint or are simply too weak to participate. WME children’s homes, schools and learning
centers provide education for orphans and severely impoverished children. WME’s ministry
strives to feed the local children we reach so they can receive a good education as well. We
want them to regain strength and well being so they can grow into healthy, productive and
happy children.
Sadly, most of the world goes to bed at night hungry.
There are other situations where funds are needed to feed the hungry. Such a program
requires special funds, funds that we designate as "Food for Hunger." Currently, WME has
Food for Hunger programs in every country and area where we serve.
· In downtown Nairobi, Kenya, there are teenage street children who scour the area looking
for food. Locals call them “garbage.” WME has started a program to feed them through the
personal ministry of a dedicated woman. The program has extended to displaced families
who live in nearby tall grass.
· In India, we provide food and meals to leper families, slum outreach and elder assistance.
· In Bangladesh, our Food For Hunger programs impact tribal villages where hunger is rampant
due to floods which destroy crops.
· In the Kibera-Soweto slum of Kenya, WME provides lunch to over 200 school children
while also feeding a number of children who do not attend the school.
· In Granada, Nicaragua, WME is partnering with a missionary couple who feeds desperate
families living in a city dump area who sift through trash to find any salvageable item to
sell for food.
Finally, there are disasters where affected people need immediate help in the form of basic
food, utensils and provisions. A few recent examples include the earthquake in Haiti, the crisis
in Japan and the tornados in Joplin, Missouri and Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
