A STATE OF FEAR ALONG THE BORDERS OF THAILAND AND BURMA!

Dear WME Family and Mission Friends,

I just returned from a one month ministry trip to Thailand for the purpose of seeing first hand the desperate situation along the borders of Thailand and Burma. What prompted this visit began much earlier in the year at a mission’s conference in Montana. It was there that I met a young missionary by the name of Joshua Dunham. He is the son of missionary parents who served in Thailand for several years. In fact Joshua was raised in Thailand most of his childhood years, speaks the language and knows Thailand like the back of his hand. As Joshua was asked to share his work and mission at the conference it became evident that God has prepared this young man to reach the people of Burma and take the message of Jesus Christ to the broken hearted and suffering people of Burma.

June 2010 - Strong Like Bamboo
Strong Like Bamboo

Sarah is a beautiful woman in her forties and has a serenity that quiets everything around her.  She lives in a thatched-roof home on the side of a mountain in a refugee camp on the Thai/Burma border.

Her house is a single room shelter, no windows, no walls and no furniture. We sit and have tea together on her floor and I discover that like all strong things bamboo gives a little when you put weight on it.

June 2010 - Women in Yangon Burma

Women in Yangon Burma

Women in Myanmar are the unsung heroes of their nation. In spite of the fact that they suffer some of the worst human rights violations in the world, they remain strong pillars in their homes, churches and communities. Some have been imprisoned for their faith. Some have been tortured. And many of them have been raped and forced to run with their families to flee the military authorities.

June 2010 - A Vision for Burma
A Vision for Burma

The WA Hostel‘s vision is to keep feeding, training, and educating these young men and women. They are Burma’s hope and future leaders. We see these students as a crucial part of Christ’s answer for Burma: they are Christians, raised in the Word and disciplined in prayer. They have been taught leadership through hardship.

Fresh Air for Burma

Zuu Pwnit Phuy came to the WA Hostel when she was 12 years old. She was fed, loved and trained by Christian house-parents and sent to a Thai school for education. She was the first student from the WA Hostel to go to a university where she graduated with a degree in nursing. Zuu was able to get a job as a nurse at the Lanna Thai Hospital in Chiang Mai, Thailand and is established in her own career.

The God of Moses in Burma

This past month, part of the founding team of the WA Hostel in North Thailand were in the jungles of Burma taking aid to the survivors of another attack from the Burmese army. It was a tragic scene that is all too familiar now. Much of the village was burned to the ground. They prayed that they would not lose one more life from their village.

Victory in 2009 for Tribal Refugee Children of Burma

Praise God for the blessings in 2009. We finished last year with a big victory thanks to our wonderful Christian brothers and sisters both here and abroad. In November 2009, Rick Beals of World Missionary Evangelism and a small team from Last Chance Chapel in Helena, Montana came to Thailand to share their hearts and bring us incredible blessings and encouragement to our work here in Thailand and Burma.

Investing in the Future and Reaping Godly Leaders for Burma!

The Lawa Hostel was built with the goal of bringing the children of Burma's Lawa ethnic group into an environment where schools and education were available, where they could prepare for their future and one day bring hope to their people who are living in great despair. An amazing opportunity to join with dedicated WA Christians and missionaries working together to inspire, teach and provide leadership qualities and vision to refugee children.

House to House with Joy in Our Hearts!

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. Acts 2:46-47
